Workaware Desktop: Provide Log File
Often when you contact Workaware support for an issue with the Windows version you’ll be requested to provide your log file. There are a few ways you can do this as described below
Send as attachment directly from Workaware
Click on Computer Settings, then the Utilities tab, then “Email Log File”. This should open your email client with an email address to Workaware support and your log file attached. You can add any additional notes and send the message.
Locate data folder from Workaware and send log file
Some email clients aren’t compatible with Workaware so the above method won’t work. In that case click on Computer Settings, then the Utilities tab, then the “Open Data Folder”.
This will open File Explorer with the contents of your locally stored Workaware information. Locate the file of type “Text Document” called “workaware.Desktop” or “workaware.Desktop.log” (depending on your configuration) and attach it to an email to support@workaware.om
Locate log file using File Explorer
If Workaware won’t start up you’ll need to locate the log file using the built-in Windows tools as follows:
Navigate to the Workaware data folder by doing one of the following:
Open File Explorer and paste this address in the address bar:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Workaware.Desktop
Right click on the Start Menu and choose “Run”, then paste this address in the “Open” field
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Workaware.Desktop\workaware.Desktop.log
This will open File Explorer with the contents of your locally stored Workaware information. Locate the file of type “Text Document” called “workaware.Desktop” or “workaware.Desktop.log” (depending on your configuration) and attach it to an email to support@workaware.om
Provide filename to email client
This will vary depending on your email client but when you’re composing a message and request to attach a file, you can paste the following into the open file dialog to attach the log file directly (screen shot using Outlook below for reference)%LOCALAPPDATA%\Workaware.Desktop\workaware.Desktop.log
